64 Scholarships worth $175,000
A total of 64 scholarships valued at $175,000 are being offered in 2017 including seven that are available to all high school graduates and relate to fields of study.
Finalists chosen by selection committees will be notified when they are to be interviewed. Those will be scheduled during the last week of March and first week of April. Recipients will be notified by May 1. The winners will be feted with their families at the 33rd annual recognition breakfast May 24 at the Senior Center in Bothell.
“The Foundation is hopeful that the scholarships will appeal to a broad spectrum of graduates,” according to Executive Director John Hughes. “Scholarship sponsors are seeking candidates who have promising academic credentials but have career goals important to a well-rounded community. Candidates should not think that the scholarships are only for their classmates with the highest GPAs.”
“Over the past 33 years of operation,” Hughes added, “the Foundation has seen its recipients study at 173 schools of their choice in 33 states from Hawaii to Illinois to Massachusetts. They have pursued educational programs at those schools representing more than 185 of every imaginable career from accounting to entrepreneurship to law enforcement to zoology. Northshore’s scholarship recipients were given the opportunity to make an impact nationwide – a positive reflection of the quality of our schools and communities.”
