Who Made It $3 Million?
When Cassidy Fayden received this 2018 scholarship at the annual recognition breakfast, this marked the $3 millionth dollar awarded by the Foundation since its work began 34 years ago. The awards have gone to 2,000 Northshore high school graduates and students attending Cascadia College and UW Bothell. Cassidy is a graduate of Secondary Academy for Success (SAS) and, as a recipient of the Grace Entrepreneurial Trades Scholarship, will be working for a career in the field of classic car restoration.
Scholarship year 2018 was a banner record year for the Foundation – 81 scholarships valued at $229,250. It was our first year in which students could make applications onLine. A total of 434 graduates applied; 24 of the 81 grants were renewals; 90 sponsors, coordinators and community members reviewed applications in the selection process. The Foundation’s work is truly spreading throughout Northshore. Treasurer Karen McDonald and Program Coordinator B-Z Davis maneuvered the Foundation and the students through the internet application process.
