This scholarship will be awarded to students planning to pursue a career in journalism (print, electronic, or online) or a related field.
Criteria
- Available to graduates of all secondary high schools within the Northshore School District;
- Financial need is a consideration;
- The Applicant should intend on attending a two- or four-year program to secure a degree in Journalism or a related field;
Requirements
- Applicants will be asked to submit an essay on his or her career plans/life goals.
- Finalists will be chosen by the Foundation's selection committee.
- The Scholarship sponsor will participate in finalist interviews and make the final selection.

About the Sponsor
The scholarship is sponsored by Arlene Bryant of Woodinville whose journalism career included reporting and editing for newspapers throughout the greater Seattle area, including 25 years with The Seattle Times and earlier at the Northshore Citizen. The scholarship is intended to support local journalism and recognize the vital importance of informed citizens in a democratic society.
